The studio

Studio Incandescence designs light, image and object, and every project starts as research.

The studio works with architects, event agencies and brands, from the first sketch to the parametric model, the prototype and the installation. Its tools are computational: Rhino and Grasshopper to generate form, real-time engines to animate it. Its workshop in Paris prints, machines and lights the prototypes before anything is built at scale.

Each project brings together the people it needs: designers, engineers, fabricators and industry partners, in Paris and abroad.

For architects, event agencies and brands, from the first sketch to the installation.

  1. Reading — The site, the use, the intention: we read the place and the brief before drawing.
  2. Sketch — Lighting strategy, atmospheres and first drawings, validated with the architect or the brand.
  3. Parametric model — Form and light are computed: simulations, variants, schedules.
  4. Prototype — Mock-ups, samples and light prototypes are made and tested in the workshop.
  5. Delivery — Fabrication follow-up, installation, programming and fine-tuning on site.

Alexandre Kolinka

Founder

Trained in crafts and design at École Boulle, then in architecture, Alexandre Kolinka has designed light for twenty years in more than twenty countries: stadiums and headquarters, launches and light shows, luxury windows and bespoke light objects. Before Studio Incandescence he founded Lightsonic and Lightsonic Systems in France, worked as Chief Designer at Shining Design between Beijing and Seoul, ran a scenography practice in Moscow and Kolinka Lighting Bureau in Astana.

Antoine Doussaud

Partner — electronics & firmware

Antoine Doussaud designs the embedded electronics and firmware of the studio’s light objects, including the crOOzin Core module.
